it has been six weeks since the strigoi attack on
saint vladimir's academy. and not everyone has
gone with the flow, so to speak. in the middle of
the glorious rescues and slow attempts to get
back to normal, one student, rose hathaway, slipped
away. for five weeks, she was in russia, trying to
track down her former mentor, dimitri belikov,
and kill him, a promise she had long ago made
to him. after several tries that all ended vainly,
she came back to school, and "dropped back in".

this second act of severe defiance has given her
classmates something new to talk about. word
is slowly slipping that out that she went after
dimitri belikov, though nobody can provide a
good explanation as to why. rose is keeping her
mouth shut on the topic because the last thing
she needs is to get in trouble and have her
guardian mark taken away, despite being mere
weeks from graduation. but in her spare time,
she's planning her next big adventure.

but rose isn't the only one planning. after the
fall of nathan, dimitri had been given leader
status. he became in charge of every plan the
strigoi have, including the plot to change
princess lissa dragomir. but dimitri also has
a side project going on in the admist of everything.
he's building an army, not only to storm saint
vladimir's once again and take the princess,
but to kidnap rose once and for all and kill her.
he happens to be rushing these plans - he wants
this ordeal done and over with already.

can saint vladimir's survive yet another attack?
could dimitri actually kill rose once he sees her?
will rose crack again when she confronts him?
